ROBERT DOWNEY JR - NO PARTIES FOR DOWNEY JR

ROBERT DOWNEY JR turned down party offers at the TORONTO FILM FESTIVAL in Canada on Monday night (08SEP03) because he's had enough of the nightlife.

The actor, a reforming drug addict, was in tears when he received a standing ovation from film fans after the screening of his new movie THE SINGING DETECTIVE, but he refused to celebrate with castmates afterwards.

He explains, "I did that partying for 30 years and now I'm done."

Cutting out drugs has also helped Downey Jr become a better dad, especially when it comes to supporting his son INDIO's soccer ambitions.

He says, "They haven't had to kick me off the soccer field now for almost a whole season. I was getting too exuberant, so I think I'm making a strong showing there."
