THE CITY - NIXON RETURNS TO THE STAGE AS MISS JEAN BRODIE

NEWS BY ARTIST ALPHABETICALLY

Former SEX + THE CITY star CYNTHIA NIXON is planning a return to the stage as the star of a new production of THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE. The actress, who was recently nominated for a Tony Award for her last Broadway, New York City, turn in RABBIT HOLE, will play the school mistress lead in the play - a role made famous on the big screen by British actress DAME MAGGIE SMITH. It is not known whether Nixon will adopt a Scottish accent for the play, which is set in 1930s Edinburgh. The play, adapted from MURIEL SPARKS' bestseller has a long history in New York - it first opened on Broadway in 1968 and ran for 379 performances. ZOE CALDWELL won a Tony Award for her performance in the title role, while Maggie Smith won an Oscar for her work in the 1969 film version.
