PAUL NEWMAN - NEWMAN CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY AND ANNIVERSARY

Veteran actor PAUL NEWMAN celebrated his 80th birthday and 47 years of marriage to JOANNE WOODWARD with a lavish party at his Westport, Connecticut, home on Saturday (29JAN05).

Guests attending the bash were treated to the live sounds of the EMERSON STRING QUARTET, followed by dinner at Newman's home, where the cake was in the shape of a racing car.

Woodward says on the success of her marriage to Newman, "One reason is he makes me laugh every day."

Newman is now in Daytona, Florida, preparing to be a member of the four-man team driving in the 24-hour race over the 12-13 February (05) weekend.
