ROBERT DOWNEY JR - NEWLYWED DOWNEY JR PROMISES HIS SON HE'LL QUIT SMOKING

Newlywed ROBERT DOWNEY JR is desperately trying to give up smoking after promising his son INDIO that would be the next thing on his list after marrying producer SUSAN LEVIN at the weekend (27AUG05).

The reformed drug addict insists smoking is one of his remaining vices, but his son refuses to accept his dad has such a bad habit.

The actor explains, "He took my cigarettes the other night and hid them down a paper towel roll... He was so proud of his hiding place he had to show me, but then he threw them away.

"I just waited until he went back upstairs and fished them out of the garbage."
