LATEST: MTV bosses have been given the all-clear to resume pre-show celebrations for Sunday's (28AUG05) Video Music Awards by weather experts in Miami Beach, Florida.

Parties and performances planned at the Doubletree Surfrider hotel were scrapped on Thursday night (25AUG05) and yesterday (26AUG05) as Hurricane Katrina hit Florida.

Parties for rap mogul DIDDY's BAD BOY LATINO record company, RICKY MARTIN's new album LIFE and OUTKAST star BIG BOI's new PURPLE RIBBON record label were among the events scrapped.

Today's (27AUG05) events, which include an outdoor MTV show, featuring AKON and FRANKIE J, and a rock concert co-headlined by the BRAVERY and FRANZ FERDINAND are scheduled to go ahead.
