MORRISSEY - MORRISSEY'S MEAT DONATION

Vegetarian singer MORRISSEY bought an butcher's entire stock of meat and donated it to a homeless hostel, so it wouldn't offend him at a concert venue in England. The star stipulated no meat be on the premises when he performed in Truro, Cornwall - but his manager discovered a butcher stand which was part of a fair taking place at the venue. Butcher CHRIS BARROW explains, "When the manager said he would buy the whole lot I thought he was joking. "He asked how much I wanted and I thought about it and said GBP200. He took out a wad of cash and paid it without blinking an eye. I wish I'd said GBP300 now." The homeless hostel manager says, "Morrissey didn't want his donation publicised but, as it has come out, I'm happy to say we're extremely grateful."
