British rocker MORRISSEY has hit out at showbiz-obsessed America, insisting Los Angeles residents are more concerned about celebrity relationships than the crisis in Iraq. The former THE SMITHS frontman lived in LA for seven years before moving to Rome, Italy, last year (05), after finding the US "naive". And he was disgusted that most people were desperately worried about the breakdown of BRAD PITT and JENNIFER ANISTON's marriage, but failed to show any emotion over world issues. He says, "All these dead Iraqi children and persecuted people, and every day in Iraq there are 40, 50, 60 dead in car bombs, etcetera. "Yet, in Los Angeles they don't even bother to mention it. They're absolutely preoccupied with whether Brad and Jen will get back together."
