LIZA MINNELLI is set to release a remastered DVD of her 1972 US TV special LIZA WITH A Z after rediscovering the footage in storage.

The cabaret show, which launched Minnelli as a major star, was a smash-hit when it aired 36 years ago and now the singer/actress is planning to air it again to coincide with her 65th birthday in March (12MAR06).

The ARTHUR star admits she completely forgot she had the footage from the show until producer MICHAEL ARICK approached her about remastering the programme.

She says, "I put it in storage. I'm always going around and trying to find everybody else's lost work and I hadn't looked at my own. I owned it and I had forgotten about it.

"I found it sitting on a dock somewhere in Mississippi in between flights. We had to really track it down."

Minnelli admits she's very impressed with Arick's remastered version of the TV special, which will premiere at the Zeigfeld Theatre in New York on 13 March (06).

She adds, "It was so startling to see it so large on a screen."

The show will also air on cable channel Showtime before it hits DVD stores.
