BETTE MIDLER - MIDLER LAUGHS OFF WEDDING SINGER REPORTS

LATEST: BETTE MIDLER has laughed off reports she will be the wedding singer at KEITH URBAN and NICOLE KIDMAN's nuptials, despite admitting she has been invited. The singer/actress insists recent reports her THE STEPFORD WIVES co-star will wed country singer Urban next month (JUN06) are unfounded, because the ceremony is much later. The New Zealand-born hitmaker and Kidman, both 38, announced their engagement last week (16MAY06) after a 10-month courtship. British newspaper The Sun claimed Midler has been asked to sing her hit WIND BENEATH MY WINGS at the ceremony, which has been rumoured to be taking place in Sydney, Australia or Nashville, Tennessee. However, Midler tells the New York Daily News, "(The wedding) is so far away and I'm recording a new Christmas album."
