BETTE MIDLER was so adamant she would find a kidney donor match for her sister SUSAN she embarked on a nationwide hunt last year (03).

The BEACHES actress sprang into action when she found out her sibling needed the vital organ.

A source tells website PAGESIX.COM, "She was not a match, so she went on a nationwide hunt for a donor."

And loving Midler jokingly tells pals, "I'd give her mine, but then there goes the cash cow of the family."

Their brother DANIEL turned out to be a perfect match and the surgery was successful.
