LATEST: MICHAEL JACKSON's planned trip to Britain is now shrouded in mystery, after reports the troubled pop superstar is not travelling after all.

Jackson was rumoured to be visiting the country tomorrow (20DEC03) to promote his new NUMBER ONES album and celebrate the birthday of illusionist pal URI GELLER, after California authorities gave him clearance to travel - but his British spokesperson PETER SHACKLETON now says the trip is off.

He says, "We've been told by our counterparts in the US that he's not coming this weekend."

"The district attorney has given him leave to come should he want to between now and 5 January - so if he wants to come, then he wants to come.

"But these are the kinds of decisions that Mr Jackson takes as it suits him, and we may or may not have very much warning."

Geller adds, "It's just very erratic, and Michael makes his decisions in a split second.

"So right now he's not coming - but who knows, 10 minutes from now, he will wake up in California and say 'I want to come to England.'"

Earlier today (19DEC03) it was reported that British MP MARK TAMI had asked for Jackson to be banned from entering the UK, following his charges of child molestation.
