Hollywood veteran MICHAEL DOUGLAS has laughed off reports he plans to retire - because he still has to keep up with his father.

The WALL STREET actor, 59, has cut back on his Hollywood workload so he can be a full-time dad to his and CATHERINE ZETA-JONES' children DYLAN and CARYS.

But Michael has no intention of leaving the silver screen altogether - and especially not while famous father KIRK DOUGLAS is still working aged 86.

He says of retirement, "Why would I do that? The beauty of this business is that you can do it forever, and if you love your work and are able to do it, that's what will keep you going.

"Besides, I can't retire till dad does, and he says he never will!"
