The heroic World War Two fighter pilot, played by MATTHEW MODINE in MEMPHIS BELLE, has died after breaking his neck in a fall.
COLONEL ROBERT MORGAN, 85, still flew war planes at air shows around America.
Modine played fictional CAPTAIN DENNIS DEARBORN in the hit war film, but the real Memphis Belle was piloted by Morgan, who named the plane after his Tennessee sweetheart.
The plane became the first American bomber to complete 25 missions to Europe.
