LORD OF THE RINGS - MCKELLEN'S DREAMS OF STARDOM

Actor SIR IAN McKELLEN bemused passers-by as a young man - by pretending he was already famous and answering imaginary interviewers as he walked down the street.

The LORD OF THE RINGS star spent much of his youth fantasising about what it would be like to be a respected actor, and even conducted imaginary interviews as he walked home from acting rehearsals.

He laughs, "Pretending I was a famous actor, I would mumble a monologue of modest answers to non-existent questions, which baffled passers-by, who could have rightly assumed that I was a little loopy."
