ADRIEN BRODY - MAYBURY SLAMS THE JACKET MARKETING

Movie-maker JOHN MAYBURY has slammed the marketing campaign of his latest film THE JACKET, only days after it hit American cinemas.

ADRIEN BRODY, KEIRA KNIGHTLEY and KRIS KRISTOFFERSON are among the starry line-up in the gritty thriller about a disturbed Gulf War veteran, which is produced by STEVEN SODERBERGH and GEORGE CLOONEY.

In an interview with website FILMFORCE.COM, Maybury fumes, "They're promoting this film as a horror film, which is a lie.

"There's going to be a disaster the first weekend, when all the kids who think they're going to see THE GRID or THE HOLE, find out they're watching some pretentious European drama."

The Jacket entered the US box office this weekend (04-06MAR05) at number 10 with $2.7 million (GBP1.4 million) takings.
