MATT DAMON's friends are happy their pal's job requires him to travel - because they all get to stay in his plush New York apartment.

THE BOURNE IDENTITY hunk recently returned to America after months of filming THE BROTHERS GRIMM in the Czech Republic, and his pals took full advantage of his absence.

He says, "I have a lot of friends. They come down from Boston. Unfortunately they always know when I'm working. They all have keys at this point... they just kind of come in."
