MARY KATE OLSEN - MARY-KATE OLSEN A 'FASHION ICON'

Teen actress MARY-KATE OLSEN has been declared a fashion icon by the NEW YORK TIMES for the "homeless" look she's adopted since becoming a university student.

The 18-year-old entrepreneur, twin sister of ASHLEY OLSEN, has attracted much attention for her less than clean-cut wardrobe since moving from Los Angeles to attend New York University last year (04).

And her image makeover, attacked by a number of fashion critics, has earned her a special nod.

Stylist KAREN BERENSON says, "The Olsens are the real thing. (Mary-Kate) makes skinny girls in baggy clothes look cool."
