COLDPLAY frontman CHRIS MARTIN is so proud of his status as a new father, the answer machine message on his mobile phone contains the gurgles of his baby daughter APPLE.

The CLOCKS singer - whose wife GWYNETH PALTROW gave birth last month (MAY04) - decided to treat his mates to the sound of Apple's voice when they phone him.

A friend says, "He was so bowled over with his daughter he wanted the world to know.

"He waited for ages so he could get the perfect little gurgle and she sounded so cute.

"He is completely in love with Apple."
