COLDPLAY - MARTIN: APPLE IS A COOL NAME

COLDPLAY frontman CHRIS MARTIN was surprised by the torrent of criticism he and wife GWYNETH PALTROW received when they named their baby girl APPLE.

The CLOCKS singer and his OSCAR-winning actress spouse welcomed their daughter into the world in May (04), but were unprepared for the scathing media response that greeted the announcement of her name.

Martin says, "What I call my baby is none of anyone's business.

"When we first told everyone we were Coldplay, they addressed us like we just said we bought a house on Mars. I think it's a cool name so why does it matter?"
