COLDPLAY - MARTIN CALLS PHOTOGRAPHER'S WIFE

COLDPLAY frontman CHRIS MARTIN unleashed his temper on an intrusive photographer on Monday night (01SEP03) - before showing the snapper his generous side.

The IN MY PLACE singer was walking home from London's GLOBE THEATRE - following girlfriend GWYNETH PALTROW's double act with actor JOSEPH FIENNES in front of British royal PRINCE CHARLES - when the angry incident occurred.

A stunned onlooker says, "One minute everything seemed fine and then Chris yelled for the bloke to get out of the way. The photographer lost balance and unbeknown to him, must have dropped his mobile."

But furious Martin evidently soon calmed down - 45 minutes after the fracas, the hitmaker rang the snapper's wife to say he had her husband's phone in his possession.
