LATEST: MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE star JUSTIN BERFIELD is adding to his collection of celebrity homes after buying the Calabasas, California, estate split couple JESSICA SIMPSON and NICK LACHEY recently put up for sale.

The young actor, who plays REESE on the hit family show, is a long-time friend of Jessica Simpson and her sister ASHLEE and fell in love with the sprawling Mediterranean-style house during visits there.

In buying the Calabasas home, Berfield has put his 1930s Spanish-style Studio City, California, home up for sale.

Past owners of that house include GEORGE CLOONEY and actress JAIME PRESSLY.

Simpson and Lachey's five-bedroom mansion, which was put on the market for $3.75 million (GBP2 million) over Christmas (05), featured in the former couple's hit reality show NEWLYWEDS: NICK AND JESSICA.
