MADONNA - MADONNA LEADS MTV AVMA NODS

Superstar MADONNA is leading the nominations at this year's (06) MTV Australia Video Music Awards (MTV AVMAs), with 5 nods.

The MATERIAL GIRL's new album CONFESSIONS ON A DANCE FLOOR has earned her nominations for Best Female Artist, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Video Of The Year and Best Dance Video for HUNG UP at the 12 April (06) ceremony.

Following behind, Aussie stars BERNARD FANNING and THE VERONICAS, and American acts GREEN DAY, FOO FIGHTERS and KANYE WEST all have three nods apiece.

Meanwhile, MARIAH CAREY, ASHLEE SIMPSON, ROBBIE WILLIAMS, JAMES BLUNT and KELLY CLARKSON all have two nominations each.

THE DARKNESS and The Veronicas have been named as performers at the annual bash, which takes place in Sydney's Superdome.
