MADONNA - MADONNA: 'I HATED LONDON'

Pop superstar MADONNA moved to London for the sake of her marriage to director GUY RITCHIE - and she's stunned she's fallen in love with the British capital because she once detested it.

The MATERIAL GIRL gave up her life in Los Angeles five years ago (05), because she knew she had to move to London if their relationship was going to be a success.

She says, "I moved (to London) for love. I never thought in a million years I'd live in London. I quite disliked the place. Then I met my husband. I realised that if I didn't live here I wouldn't get to see him very much.

"We had a long-distance relationship for a year. I thought, somebody has to compromise - which I did. Then I fell in love with London and Guy started taking me to the countryside and I started to feel comfortable here.

"I'd go to America and start to really miss London. It's funny the way things turned out."
