LUDACRIS - LUDACRIS HONOURED FOR CHARITY WORK

Hip-hop star LUDACRIS was interrupted during a concert in Mississippi, America to receive an award for his efforts in raiding funds for the disadvantaged.

During a show featuring the rapper's DISTURBING THA PEACE 'family' in Canton on 22 November (03), Mayor FRED ESCO JR and Jackson City Councilman KENNETH STOKES presented Ludacris and protege CHINGY with proclamations from both cities for to their charitable work.

Ludacris, who was recognised for the deeds generated by his LUDACRIS FOUNDATION, says, "It surprised the hell out of me. It was the opposite of what the media is doing right now. They usually ridicule us for the things we do.

"(The politicians) honoured me. They're trying to set an example knowing that rappers do have a voice and I do get out in the community with the Ludacris Foundation. That was their way of bringing it to light. I was proud and motivated to do even more."

During last month's (NOV03) Thanksgiving holiday, the STAND UP rapper's foundation gave away 1,800 turkeys to less fortunate families in Atlanta's HERNDON, BANKHEAD COURT and HOLLYWOOD COURT housing projects.

On 23 December (03), the organisation will put on a toy drive and shopping spree for disabled children.
