MEG RYAN - LOS ANGELES COP ACCUSED OF SELLING STARS. SECRETS

A host of stars - including HALLE BERRY, JENNIFER ANISTON and MEG RYAN - are caught in the midst of a scandal involving a policeman accused of selling their secrets to tabloids.

According to the LOS ANGELES TIMES, a Los Angeles police officer has allegedly been using the department computers to look up confidential information on an array of celebrities and then selling it to newspapers.

The officer, KELLY CHRISMAN, says he was just following orders, and denies any allegation of misconduct.

He claims he was conducting research for a project assigned to him by department bosses to track and maintain a map of celebrity residences.

The LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT says such a project does not exist and has filed misconduct charges against Chrisman.

Evidence against the officer includes several phone records to a top-level editor at THE NATIONAL ENQUIRER, who has refused to make a comment on her relationship with the officer.

Other celebrities reportedly targetted by Chrisman include MICKEY ROURKE, PAMELA ANDERSON, LARA FLYNN BOYLE, SHARON STONE, SEAN PENN, DREW BARRYMORE and CINDY CRAWFORD.
