LINDSAY LOHAN's troubled father MICHAEL has thanked his family and God for helping him in his darkest hour.

Lohan Senior spent Christmas (04) in a New York rehab facility after assaulting family members, violating a protection order brought against him by his estranged wife DINA - Lindsay's mother.

But Michael insists he is on the road to recovery and hasn't given up hope of achieving a reconciliation with Dina - even though divorce proceedings have reportedly begun.

He tells PAGESIX.COM, "When I came here I had no chemical dependency. I was checked and had zero, zero, zero.

"The point is, this is a technological situation. I have underlying issues of anger. Many people I know are on Prozac or Zoloft.

"Previously, I refused to take those things. I now do, and I'm grateful. I'm OK. The judge's order to me to enter rehab was actually the best Christmas present I could have had.

"When I come out, I want to do a project for rehab and donate to the hospitals that helped me.

"Look, all I can say is, God knows what's in my heart and He'll take care of me. He knows I don't mean harm. My wife, Dina, is a very good person.

"The truth is she's said four or five times she'd divorce me, but she hasn't. She knows I love her. And I love my family. My daughter Lindsay said she loves me. And they can't keep my family away from me. When I come home and go to court, I'll tell Dina, 'Whatever you want. You want to reconcile, divorce, whatever you want, I'll do.' I'm just praying to God."
