THE LIBERTINES - LIBERTINES GET TO WORK ON ALBUM - FINALLY

British rockers THE LIBERTINES have moved to dispel doubts over their future by announcing they have recorded four tracks for their new album.
The VERTIGO four-piece were thought to be in trouble again after singer-guitarist PETE DOHERTY - who was imprisoned last year (03) for a drug-fuelled burglary on bandmate CARL BARAT's flat - voiced his dissatisfaction with the band.
Doherty stated on his personal website that his relationship with Barat had deteriorated, and he was tempted to concentrate on his side-projects with WOLFMAN, with whom he has produced hotly tipped forthcoming single FOR LOVERS, and his BABYSHAMBLES band.
However, following a prolonged delay, The Libertines' website now confirms the group have recorded four new songs - CAN'T STAND ME NOW, THE NARCISSIST, THE LIKELY LADS and ROAD TO RUIN - with CLASH legend MICK JONES, who also produced their debut LP UP THE BRACKET.
The band have also announced they are launching a new club night in London called THE ARTS LAB, which will be dedicated to film and music.
