British rockers THE LIBERTINES would welcome troubled ex-member PETE DOHERTY back into the band after his jail sentence is completed.
According to British music magazine NME, Doherty's pal and songwriting partner CARL BARAT wants his friend back in the fold - even though Doherty is currently serving a six month sentence in London's WANDSWORTH PRISON for burgling the star's flat.
Fans and supporters have been shocked at the sentence, as Doherty has admitted to suffering from serious heroin and crack cocaine addiction.
The magazine reports, "The NME understands that Pete's close friend and Libertines co-writer Carl Barat is keen to get the original band line-up back together as soon as Doherty is freed.
"Insiders have even begun talking about the possibility of the band recording a Christmas single."
Doherty's lawyer RICHARD LOCKE has lodged an appeal against his six months sentence, which could see him free as soon as November (03).
