Australian actor HEATH LEDGER has blasted his Hollywood counterparts for "whoring" themselves to multi-million dollar advertising campaigns.

The 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU star, 26, and pregnant girlfriend MICHELLE WILLIAMS keep a low-profile in the media and he's vowed to never use his fame to star in commercials.

Ledger fumes, "I'm certainly not someone who wants to go out and sell f**king Tag Heuer watches and L'Oreal and all that whole stupid fashion that has come in right now.

"It is whoring ourselves for millions of dollars. I'm not sure I put thought into how I want to be perceived and how I come across.

"I've never really concentrated on that. All my effort goes in between the time of action and cut."

Earlier this year (05), fellow Antipodean star RUSSELL CROWE also berated actors for "selling out" to plug big name brands and singled out GEORGE CLOONEY and HARRISON FORD as victims of his wrath.

Crowe said, "I don't use my celebrity to make a living. I don't do ads for suits in Spain like George Clooney or cigarettes in Japan like Harrison Ford.

"To me, it is kind of sacrilegious. It's a complete contradiction of the social contract you have with your audience.

"I mean, ROBERT DE NIRO advertising American Express. Gee whiz, it's not the first time he's disappointed me. It's been happening for a while."
