Former LA LAW star MICHELE DOMINGUEZ GREENE is branching out as a children's author after penning the first of a series of stories, being dubbed the Latina NANCY DREW MYSTERIES. The Emmy-nominated actress has combined her native Mayan history and modern-day California culture to create the first MARTIKA VALDEZ tale, CHASING THE JAGUAR. Greene hopes to write a series of books in both English and Spanish about her teenage sleuth, and she has been given a boost from Hollywood - executives at a top studio are looking to turn Chasing the Jaguar into a new movie. Greene simply hopes the new books help to give teenage readers confidence and steer them towards making positive decisions about their futures. She says, "I hope Martika and her friends will be positive role models for young girls and inspire them to dream big. "When girls feel the future offers them many possibilities, they are more likely to avoid pitfalls like teen pregnancy." As well as playing ABBY PERKINS on TV series LA Law in the late 1980s, Dominguez Greene has also appeared in CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, SIX FEET UNDER and NIP/TUCK. She currently stars in US TV hit THE UNIT.
