Russian tennis star ANNA KOURNIKOVA is now suing her own parents, after they filed a lawsuit against her - claiming they own part of her Miami, Florida mansion.
SERGEI and ALLA KOURNIKOVA - who are separated - filed a suit in Miami-Dade Circuit Court last week (22APR04), in a bid to have the $9 million (GBP5 million) house they all once shared in Miami Beach split in three, insisting they split the cost between them.
But 22-year-old Anna has hit back and now wants her parents' names removed from the deeds to the property - claiming she paid for the house in full, and that Sergei and Alla appeared on the title because it is "customary and usual for parents to be included".
She adds that they lived in the home for only a brief time and were asked to leave in 2002, which they did.
Anna's lawyer MICHAEL B CHESAL tells the NEW YORK LAWYER magazine, "Anna tried to resolve this dispute out of court and is disappointed that it has become a matter of public record. She is terribly saddened by the situation."
Her parents' lawyer HOWARD RUDOLPH, however, insists Anna's allegations are, "untrue".
He adds, "The parents gave up everything they have for her tennis career. They were her business managers and were actively involved and participated in every aspect of her career, both on and off the court."
