Tennis ace ANNA KOURNIKOVA and pop hunk ENRIQUE IGLESIAS were at the centre of a media storm in the Caribbean last weekend (30MAY-1JUN03) after reports emerged the pair had wed.

Reporters and paparazzi in the Dominican Republic scrambled to find out if the Russian beauty, 21, and the Spanish crooner, 28, had married in a sunset ceremony.

Photographers hoping to snap the possible newlyweds waited outside a church in the tropical paradise where news reports from around the world said the power pair were to be married.

But after hours of waiting, the lensmen were disappointed to discover they been duped - and that another couple were actually married at the site.

This is not the first time that Kournikova has kept a veil of secrecy over her bridal status. Her brief marriage to fellow Russian sports star, DETROIT RED WINGS centre SERGEI FEDOROV, wasn't publicised until years after the ceremony.
