KIEFER SUTHERLAND - KIEFER: JULIA WAS BRAVE FOR CALLING OFF OUR WEDDING

KIEFER SUTHERLAND has praised ex-girlfriend JULIA ROBERTS' "bravery", for calling off the couple's planned wedding at the last minute.

The 24 star no longer speaks with his ex, but admits the years since the painful public split have helped him realise how courageous Roberts was to jilt him at the altar.

Sutherland, who has suffered two marriage break-ups since his romance with Roberts, says, "She made the right decision. I spent two years with her because I loved her; she mattered more to me than anything at the time.

"We met when we were doing FLATLINERS; then Pretty Woman came out. It was just this amazing ascent for her. She very cleverly said, 'I don't think this marriage is the right thing.' It was brave of her, knowing the expectations people had for the wedding."

Sutherland admits he was mortified when his ex walked out on him, but he now fondly remembers the two years they spent together.

He adds, "She was one of the funniest people I've ever known but I don't know her now. We don't talk. I thought she was the bee's knees."
