KIEFER SUTHERLAND - KIEFER URGES CALIFORNIANS TO GIVE BLOOD

KIEFER SUTHERLAND is helping to fight California's blood shortage by starring in a hard-hitting new American Red Cross TV commercial.

The 24 star jumped at the chance to help the charity out after hearing that California's blood donation record is among the worst in America.

He says, "Every 24 hours 1,700 Southern Californians will need a blood transfusion. 300 of those recipients will be children.

"Let's face it, like me, you will most likely need blood at some point in your life, but 97 per cent of Southern Californians don't give blood. We must do better.

"Please, in the next 24 hours, become a hero, call the American Red Cross. Give blood. Save a life."
