KIEFER SUTHERLAND - KIEFER TO PLAY HIS OWN GRANDFATHER?

Superstar actor KIEFER SUTHERLAND is poised to play his own grandfather in a forthcoming mini-series on Canadian television.

The 24 star is being lined up to portray TC 'TOMMY' DOUGLAS, the premier of south Canada's Saskatchewan region, who fought to bring public health care to the masses in the early 1960s.

While Kiefer hasn't committed to the project yet, his mother SHIRLEY DOUGLAS is working as a creative consultant on the project.

Shirley says, "The answers to the future must build on the strengths of the past. The Tommy Douglas story is very timely for Canada today."
