PHONE BOOTH - KIEFER SUTHERLAND TO UNVEIL MEMORIAL

NEWS BY ARTIST ALPHABETICALLY

PHONE BOOTH actor KIEFER SUTHERLAND is hoping to unveil a memorial in Scotland to mark the centenary of his socialist grandfather TOMMY DOUGLAS.

The 24 star is very proud of his Scottish-born relative, who was dubbed the founding father of Canada's National Health Service.

The FALKIRK LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY hopes to build a memorial for Tommy, and chairman JOHN WALKER says, "Tommy Douglas was one of the most influential statesmen to come out of Falkirk.

"He was internationally renowned and admired for his belief in good health and pensions for all. Although he spent most of his life in Canada, I think we should still recognise and celebrate his many achievements.

"His children and grandchildren have become internationally famous and are still supporting those ideals."
