Superstitious pop star KELLY CLARKSON's brother has become the singer's good luck charm - she won't go on stage at live shows until she hugs him.

The AMERICAN IDOL star has a number of rituals she must perform before hitting the stage and she panics whenever one thing doesn't go to plan.

She says, "One night my brother wasn't back there and every night he had been and so I was freaking out. We didn't start the show and I made everybody look for my brother. I'm weird."
