KANYE WEST is off to a running start in the race for the Best Album Grammy next year (06), after landing top spot in US magazines Spin and Rolling Stone's end-of-year polls.

The rapper's LATE REGISTRATION beat ARULAR by MIA and FRANZ FERDINAND's YOU COULD HAVE IT SO MUCH BETTER to take number one in the Spin annual Top 40, and topped THE ROLLING STONES' BIGGER BANG on the Rolling Stone Top 50 Records list.

Meanwhile, Spin crowned FEEL GOOD INC by animated group GORILLAZ as the Single Of The Year, ahead of FALL OUT BOY's SUGAR, WE'RE GOIN' DOWN and R+B sensation AMERIE's 1 THING.

The top five Spin albums are:
