JOHNNY CASH - JOHNNY CASH MUSICAL TO HIT BROADWAY

A musical based around the music of JOHNNY CASH will hit Broadway in New York City next year (06).

RING OF FIRE - which has premiered to rapturous reviews in Buffalo, New York State - features more than 35 of the HURT star's songs.

However, Cash does not appear as a character in the lavish stage production which follows in the footsteps of 'jukebox musicals' like MAMMA MIA and WE WILL ROCK YOU.

Tony Award-winning director RICHARD MALTBY explains, "The persona, the voice, are unduplicatable, and the very best we could achieve would be a poor imitation."
