SIR ELTON JOHN and DAVID GILMOUR were the big name winners at the Mojo Music Awards held in London last night (05JUN06). The ROCKET MAN was inducted into the British rock 'n' roll magazine's Hall Of Fame while PINK FLOYD guitarist Gilmour was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Late country legend JOHNNY CASH picked up a posthumous Best Catalogue Release Award, while UK singing sensation CORINNE BAILEY RAE was named Best New Act just six months after she burst into the British charts. THE PRETENDERS frontwoman CHRISSIE HYNDE claimed the Songwriter Award, while punk icons BUZZCOCKS scooped the Inspiration Award. Sir Elton John took time out from his world tour to collect his award in person.
