Movie beauty SCARLETT JOHANSSON may earn millions from her modelling and acting work, but she refuses to pay inflated prices for designer clothes.

The LOST IN TRANSLATION actress was horrified during a recent shopping excursion when a NIKE sweatshirt was rung up at the till at a far higher price than Johansson had anticipated.

She explains, "I was shopping and chose this great zip-up top made out of vintage Nike sweaters. I'm at the till and on the phone at the same time and I look down at the receipt and the sweater costs $1,400.

"I practically dropped my cellphone while I was gawking at the bill. So I ask the guy why it's so special and he says, 'It's this one guy. He only sells here and Tokyo. It's totally exclusive. Incredible, isn't it?'

"Christ, I wanna find the guy and just say, 'What the f**k?' I bought it of course, but I'm getting my assistant to take it back."
