Rubber-faced comic JIM CARREY has been accused of undergoing plastic surgery, after he was seen on the cover of American magazine bearing a striking resemblance to KEANU REEVES.

The Canadian funnyman appears on the cover of this week's (ends25APR03) ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY alongside sexy actress JENNIFER ANISTON to promote his upcoming comedy BRUCE ALMIGHTY.

And his barely-recognisable snapshot has prompted suspicion of plastic surgery or very heavy airbrushing - both of which his representative MARLEAH LESLIE denies. She explains, "He's been working out so his face looks thinner, and he's wearing a new hairstyle."

Carrey just finished work on ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND last week (ends18APR03), with KATE WINSLET, in which he wears a fringe.

Entertainment Weekly spokeswoman SANDY DRAYTON, who insists photographic touch-ups were "not dramatic", says, "The feeling here was that this is the way he looks, even though it's not how people usually think of Jim Carrey."
