Revered US news broadcaster PETER JENNINGS has revealed he has been diagnosed with lung cancer.
The WORLD NEWS TONIGHT anchor, 66, has announced to friends and colleagues at ABC that he is about to begin outpatient treatment but expects to continue to host the nightly news show.
Jennings has been the sole anchor of World News Tonight since 1983.
