British EUROVISION SONG CONTEST flops JEMINI actually hoped to receive no points in the competition.
GEMMA ABBEY of the Liverpool duo, who were Britain's worst-scoring entry of all time, claims during the final rounds of voting they wanted to stand out as losers rather than end up with just a few points.
Abbey says, "When it got towards the end and we didn't get points we were praying: 'Don't give us any points, don't give us any points'. We'd rather have nothing than come halfway or get 10 points."
She also defended their off-key performance at Saturday's (24MAY03) show in Latvia, suggesting they had trouble with their equipment.
Abbey says, "Me and CHRIS have been singing for years. We know we can do it, that was just a bit of a shame what happened that night and if anyone else could have gone up and done it without the monitors, then good luck to them."
Bandmate CHRIS CROMBY, 21, adds, "We've done acoustic versions of CRY BABY on the TERRY WOGAN show and others, people who have seen those know we can sing live."
