Director JIM JARMUSCH has criticised the current trend for celebrity biopics, because they never get "inside" the minds of the legends they depict. Despite the critical and commercial success of recent efforts RAY (RAY CHARLES) and WALK THE LINE (JOHNNY CASH), Jarmusch argues they fail to satisfy real music fans. He says, "I have an aversion to biopics in general. The JOHNNY CASH movie was well done but I couldn't get inside of it because it wasn't Johnny Cash and I'm a Johnny Cash fan."
