WHITE STRIPES - JACK WHITE SLAMS FELLOW DETROIT ROCKERS

WHITE STRIPES star JACK WHITE has hit out at fellow Detroit, America rockers THE VON BONDIES for being "mean-spirited" towards his band's success.

The 7 NATION ARMY singer has been delighted that many of their Detroit contemporaries have supported the band in their surprise international success - but has been frustrated at the way The Von Bondies have treated them after he helped the group on the road to stardom.

He complains, "Everyone's been a really good family except for The Von Bondies. I don't know what their problem is. They've really lost their minds, it's ridiculous. The singer (JASON STOLLSTEIMER) has really gone off the deep end. He's very mean spirited."

And White, who is now dating Hollywood star RENEE ZELLWEGER, denies the animosity between the bands is rooted in his previous relationship with Bondies guitarist MARCIE BOLEN.

He says, "He's (Stollsteimer) been that way for a while. I produced the band, got them a record deal. Detroit is such a great family and they're kind of a sore thumb.

"I don't speak to them. When you get burned constantly, there's no point in forgiveness anymore. Your forgiveness is wasted."
