Indie movie sensations THE STATION AGENT and 21 GRAMS are leading the race for this year's SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARDS after picking up top nominations - but former couple TOM CRUISE and NICOLE KIDMAN have been frozen out.
Neither superstar picked up nods from their peers for the 10th annual SAG awards - for their acclaimed roles in THE LAST SAMURAI and COLD MOUNTAIN, but their co-stars received nominations for supporting roles.
The ceremony, at Los Angeles' SHRINE EXPOSITION CENTER on 22 February (04), looks like being an evening of firsts - with many of the movie nominees up for their first SAG gong.
JOHNNY DEPP, who has never been nominated in the Best Actor category, and another debutant, BILL MURRAY, are the clear favourites to take home the male acting honour, while first-timers PATRICIA CLARKSON, CHARLIZE THERON and EVAN RACHEL WOOD will compete for the Best Actress prize.
Meanwhile, in the TV category, HBO's AIDS drama ANGELS IN AMERICA is clear favourite, dominating the miniseries acting categories, but there isn't much love for departing shows FRIENDS, FRASIER and SEX + THE CITY - all three are nominated in the Best TV Comedy cast category, but only Friends' LISA KUDROW is nominated in the acting categories.
The full list of nominees is as follows:
