Veteran rocker IGGY POP was the first choice to be presented with the Godlike Genius Award at the NME Awards last week (23FEB06), but was reportedly too expensive.

The LUST FOR LIFE singer and his band would have cost too much for British music weekly New Musical Express (NME) to fly over to the London ceremony.

Instead, the Godlike Genius Award went to former STONE ROSES frontman IAN BROWN.

According to UK newspaper The Sun, Welsh singer CHARLOTTE CHURCH turned down her invite to the NME Awards, while supermodel KATE MOSS failed to reply to hers.
