TV show AMERICAN IDOL's nasty British judge SIMON COWELL's verbal assaults have paid off for last year's (02) victor KELLY CLARKSON.
The singer, who has just released her debut album, admits learning to deal with Simon's catty comments helped her cope when record label executives hurled abuse at her.
She says, "I think Simon really helped me out. Now, when I get all the negatives, I'm like, 'Yeah, right. You're nothing compared to Simon.'"
