Rapper ICE CUBE insists talk of him starring in a remake of the popular 1970s TV show WELCOME BACK, KOTTER is speculative until he gets paid upfront. The former NWA star - real name O'SHEA JACKSON - isn't getting his hopes up until he signs a contract making it official. He explains, "I haven't got a cheque yet, so, until somebody starts paying for stuff, it's still a Hollywood rumour. "I was a big fan of the show and we got a chance to do it and flip it and do it the Ice Cube way." The rapper would assume the role of the wise-cracking teacher who helps tough inner-city high school kids, but is determined to put his own spin on it. He adds, "We're gonna keep it pretty gangsta."
